Sindh Govt Announces Monthly Rs2,000 Subsidy for Motorcycle Owners

The Sindh government has announced a major relief package for motorcycle owners, offering a monthly subsidy of Rs2,000 to help offset rising fuel costs amid current economic challenges.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that the decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where key measures were discussed in light of the tense regional situation and economic pressure.
He explained that the government has opted for targeted subsidies to support the public. Under this initiative, motorcycle owners will receive financial assistance starting from April.
According to official figures, there are approximately 6.6 million registered motorcycles in Sindh. Each eligible motorcycle owner will receive Rs2,000 per month, calculated on the basis of 20 liters of fuel with Rs100 subsidy per liter.
The subsidy will be transferred through a dedicated mobile application. Users will need to enter their CNIC number, after which their registered motorcycle details will appear, and payments will be transferred within 15 days.
Authorities have emphasized that only verified and registered motorcycle owners will be eligible. Citizens have been advised to transfer ownership of motorcycles into their names within 15 days, with the government waiving transfer fees to facilitate the process.
The Chief Minister also assured that transport fares will be regulated, and bus owners will be instructed not to increase fares. Additionally, the subsidy program will initially be implemented for the month of April, with further decisions to be made based on evolving conditions.
